Don't Know Who You Are Messing With

Starter.jpg Note the white car.

It had been one of those days. Ya know the kind that has you wondering why all the jerks chose to be on the road at the same time.

I had just one trip left to do. One of my regular riders was due in on Hawaiian Airlines flight number 44 from Honolulu. Now the flight usually comes in around 9pm, but tonight it was about 40 minutes late.

I was already on the grumpy side, so when I pulled into the garage at terminal A and saw that the one remaining parking space, that I could use for a prearranged pickup, was taken by a Starters personal car, I was livid.

There were three Starters standing at the taxi booth, and only sometimes are two needed. I yelled out to them from my cab, "Where am I supposed to park?" I am sure I was heard. They ignored me, so I had to park deep into the garage.

As I walked by them I asked who was in charge and then asked his name. He said, "I don't have to tell you!" To which I replied, "You don't know who you are messing with!" I know I sounded like some little schoolyard bully, but that's what I blurted out.

Today I reenacted the ugly story to the owner of the taxi company asking his advice. He said, "Joann, I'll take care of it."

I hope so. I want the guy to know just who he messed with!

Update: Larry Silva, owner Yellow Cab, spoke with the Operations Manager of
Taxi San Jose and I should now be respected at the airport.

A lady taxi Starter at terminal C in black pants and tan shirt. She will ask the customer, "Taxi or Shuttle?" Also the Starter will call the cabs up to the terminals from the staging area.

Good on ya! Show them that you wont be messed with! I'm like that too, these idiots should have had more respect for you as your the one with more rights as a taxi driver to park there than them when they have enough parkin spots elsewhere for them!! Good on you for speakin up.

About

I got my first computer early in the Summer of 2004, and began blogging almost immediately. Thanks to blogging I have been a part of several newspapers and online blogs. By that August I was featured in the lead story of the Tech Section in the San José Mercury News. Then what a pleasant surprise it was to find that my blog, "Taxi Vignettes" was the reason I was chosen as the best local blogger of the year (2006) by the Metro Newspaper. Fall of '06, I was contacted by a reporter, asking if I would be willing to be the topic of her next story in The Willow Glen Resident. It was a cool two pages including photos. Am I having fun yet?
