Last night I got a call, in Willow Glen, for a young woman who needed to get up to SFO. Making small talk, I asked her if her trip would be for business or just for fun. She said that she had won a contest. She has been a fan of the group U2 for years, and had entered a contest to meet them in NYC for a book signing at Barnes & Noble. She was one of the lucky 250 fans chosen to attend. I could tell that she was still in shock as she was telling me about getting ready for the trip. She even gave up her Pilate class!
Though it was 7:30pm I was still worried about taking 101 up to the airport. This (U2-thing) being more important than some old business meeting, there was no way I wanted to be in anyway responsible for her missing the plane. So, I decided to take 280, and eat the difference in the taxi fare.
I hope that she is having the time of her life.
I got my first computer early in the Summer of 2004, and began blogging almost immediately. Thanks to blogging I have been a part of several newspapers and online blogs. By that August I was featured in the lead story of the Tech Section in the San José Mercury News. Then what a pleasant surprise it was to find that my blog, "Taxi Vignettes" was the reason I was chosen as the best local blogger of the year (2006) by the Metro Newspaper. Fall of '06, I was contacted by a reporter, asking if I would be willing to be the topic of her next story in The Willow Glen Resident. It was a cool two pages including photos. Am I having fun yet?
